New Years babyWelcome Back!

Can you believe it is January and a New Year already? It seems like we were just lining up for the first day of school. We have accomplished so much in the past four months, and look forward to many more accomplishments in the new year.

The children of Haviland did an outstanding job again this year with The Giving Tree. Hats, scarves, gloves and mittens were collected, and were gratefully accepted by Logan Memorial Presbyterian Church who will distribute them to those in need at New Visions in Camden.

In January we continue our caring efforts with a month-long Pajama Collection. New (with tags attached) PJs of all sizes are needed. Mrs. Salamone is spearheading the collection at Haviland.

Report Card Conferences will be held on Thursday, January 25. You will receive verification of the conference time you selected from your child’s teacher. This is a Student-led Conference, which means your child must attend. We look forward to seeing you there.

Our monthly PTA meeting takes place on Tuesday, January 30 in the Haviland Media Center. Starting in February, our meetings for the remainder of the year will be held at the Mansion Avenue School library. I hope you will join us.

Coming Attraction…Our annual One School/ One Book will begin in February.

Every teacher will read aloud from The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo throughout the month of February. There will be special activities planned during the month to build common ground across grades.

Also coming in February: Kindergarten Registration is scheduled for February 22 and 23. If you know someone with a child who plans to attend Haviland Kindergarten in September, please let them know the dates. We will have more information online. Children need to be registered to be included in Kindergarten Screening in April.

Goodbye until next time!

Happy New Year
